Drug intelligence / Profile preview
[89Zr]Zr-DFO-TATE is a novel radiopharmaceutical consisting of the somatostatin analog octreotate (TATE) conjugated with the chelator deferoxamine (DFO) and radiolabeled with the positron-emitting radionuclide zirconium-89 (89Zr). It is designed as a positron emission tomography (PET) imaging agent targeting somatostatin receptors (SSTR), which are overexpressed in neuroendocrine tumors (NETs). Due to the relatively long physical half-life of zirconium-89 (3.27 days), [89Zr]Zr-DFO-TATE is being evaluated for predictive dosimetry and treatment planning in patients undergoing peptide receptor radionuclide therapy (PRRT) with agents like [177Lu]Lu-DOTA-TATE (Lutathera).
