Overview

[99mTc]Tc-DARPinEc1-G3C is a radiopharmaceutical diagnostic agent consisting of a Designed Ankyrin Repeat Protein (DARPin) named Ec1-G3C labeled with the radioactive isotope technetium-99m (99mTc). It is designed to target the Epithelial Cell Adhesion Molecule (EpCAM), which is frequently overexpressed in various carcinomas, including breast cancer. DARPins are small, stable, engineered proteins that offer high affinity and specificity for their targets, often providing better tissue penetration and faster clearance than full-sized antibodies. This agent is primarily used for SPECT/CT imaging to visualize EpCAM expression in patients with primary triple-negative and luminal breast cancer, facilitating the assessment of tumor distribution and dosimetry.
