Drug intelligence / Profile preview
[99mTc]Tc-TECANT-1 (also known as [99mTc]Tc-N4-LM-3) is a novel technetium-99m-labeled somatostatin receptor subtype 2 (SST2) antagonist developed for the molecular imaging of neuroendocrine neoplasms (NENs) using SPECT/CT. It was developed as part of the ERA PerMed-funded TECANT project, a collaborative effort involving Jagiellonian University Medical College, Medical University Innsbruck, the National Centre for Nuclear Research (POLATOM), and the University of Ljubljana. By targeting overexpressed SST2 receptors on tumor cell membranes, [99mTc]Tc-TECANT-1 provides superior tumor-to-background contrast and detects more lesions compared to conventional somatostatin receptor agonists, particularly in tumors with low receptor density. It is formulated as a freeze-dried three-vial kit for convenient preparation in hospital radiopharmacies.
