Overview

[C-11]MENET is a radiolabeled compound used as a positron emission tomography (PET) imaging agent for the norepinephrine transporter. It is labeled with carbon-11 and designed to visualize and quantify norepinephrine transporter density in vivo. The compound acts as a selective ligand for the norepinephrine transporter, making it useful in neuroimaging studies of diseases involving noradrenergic dysfunction such as depression, Parkinson’s disease, and other neuropsychiatric or neurodegenerative disorders. The mechanism of action involves binding to the SLC6A2 protein (norepinephrine transporter), allowing PET imaging of its distribution and density in the brain[1][3].
