Drug intelligence / Profile preview
[D-Phe6,β-Ala11,Phe13,Nle14]bombesin(6-14) (also known as BRS-3-AP or BRS-3 agonist peptide-1) is a synthetic peptide and a high-affinity agonist of the bombesin receptor family. It was originally developed by researchers at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to characterize the pharmacology of the orphan bombesin receptor subtype-3 (BRS-3). While it acts as a pan-bombesin receptor agonist, binding and activating BRS-3, gastrin-releasing peptide receptor (GRPR), and neuromedin B receptor (NMBR) with high affinity, it is widely utilized as a reference tool in research to study BRS-3 signaling pathways and its physiological roles in energy homeostasis, glucose metabolism, obesity, and diabetes.
