Drug intelligence / Profile preview
新康泰克 (Xīn Kāng Tàikè) is a combination pharmaceutical drug primarily used for the temporary relief of upper respiratory symptoms associated with the common cold, influenza, sinusitis, and hay fever. Its formulation, specifically the "blue pack" widely available in China, contains pseudoephedrine hydrochloride, a decongestant, and chlorpheniramine maleate, an antihistamine. Pseudoephedrine works by constricting blood vessels in the nasal passages to reduce swelling and congestion, while chlorpheniramine blocks histamine receptors to alleviate sneezing, runny nose, and watery eyes. This sustained-release formulation is designed to provide relief for up to 12 hours. It is manufactured by GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) or its joint ventures.
