Drug intelligence / Profile preview
(C8-S)-hydantocidin 5'-phosphate is a synthetic small molecule and stereoisomer of hydantocidin 5'-phosphate. It is structurally related to natural nucleoside analogs and features a spirocyclic hydantoin core with phosphate substitution at the 5' position. This compound has been studied as an inhibitor of adenylosuccinate synthetase—an enzyme involved in the purine nucleotide biosynthesis pathway—by mimicking substrate or intermediate states within the enzyme's active site. Its primary use is as a biochemical tool or discovery agent for probing purine metabolism and potential antiparasitic activity against targets such as Plasmodium adenylosuccinate synthetase[4][8]. There are no approved medical indications.
