1'-deazo-thiamin diphosphate

1'-Deazo-Thiamin Diphosphate is a synthetic analog of thiamine diphosphate (ThDP), the active coenzyme form of vitamin B1. It features a structural modification at the 1' position of the thiazole ring (deaza substitution), which alters its electronic and binding properties compared to natural ThDP. Like ThDP, it can bind to and modulate enzymes that require thiamine diphosphate as a cofactor—such as transketolase and various dehydrogenases—but is primarily used in biochemical research to probe enzyme mechanisms or as an inhibitor/analog in structural studies[7][5]. It is not approved for therapeutic use and remains an experimental compound.
