Overview

1-chloro-6-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-2-naphthol is a synthetic small molecule with the molecular formula C16H11ClO2 and a molecular weight of approximately 270.71 g/mol. It features a phenylnaphthalene skeleton, consisting of a naphthalene core bound to a phenyl group substituted with hydroxy and chloro groups. This compound has been studied as an experimental ligand for estrogen receptor beta (ERβ), where it acts as an inhibitor. Structural studies have shown that it can bind selectively to ERβ, mimicking the binding orientation of genistein but with potentially higher affinity and selectivity due to its unique scaffold modifications[2][9]. There are no approved therapeutic indications or marketed products containing this compound.
