1-methyl-5-(2-phenoxymethyl-pyrrolidine-1-sulfonyl)-1H-indole-2,3-dione is a synthetic small molecule belonging to the indole and isatin sulfonamide class. It has been studied primarily as an experimental inhibitor of caspase enzymes—particularly caspase-3—which are cysteine proteases involved in apoptosis (programmed cell death). The compound acts by binding to and inhibiting the activity of these proteases. There are no approved therapeutic indications or marketed products containing this compound; it remains an experimental research tool for studying apoptosis pathways and potential anti-apoptotic interventions[2][4][6]. No clinical trials or approvals have been reported.
