Drug intelligence / Profile preview
1.1% sodium fluoride + Low-Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) is an investigational combination protocol developed by the Universidade Federal do Para to prevent post-bleaching dentin sensitivity. This protocol is evaluated in patients undergoing in-office dental bleaching with 35% hydrogen peroxide. The treatment involves the topical application of 1.1% (5000 ppm) sodium fluoride gel, which acts as a desensitizing agent by forming mineral precipitates that occlude dentinal tubules, thereby reducing the hydrodynamic flow that triggers nerve stimulation. This is combined with LLLT using an 808 nm infrared laser, which is applied to provide analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects on the dental pulp. The combination of a chemical desensitizer and physical laser therapy is intended to provide superior relief compared to fluoride alone.
