Overview

11,12-epoxyeicosatrienoic acid (11,12-EET) is a bioactive lipid metabolite of arachidonic acid, synthesized primarily by cytochrome P450 (CYP) epoxygenases. It functions as an autocrine and paracrine signaling molecule with significant roles in cardiovascular and renal physiology. 11,12-EET is recognized as an endothelium-derived hyperpolarizing factor (EDHF) that promotes vasodilation by activating large-conductance calcium-activated potassium (BKCa) channels in vascular smooth muscle cells, leading to membrane hyperpolarization and relaxation. Beyond its vasodilatory effects, 11,12-EET exhibits anti-inflammatory, anti-apoptotic, and cardioprotective properties. OMM Scientific provides the racemic (±) form of 11,12-EET as a research reagent for preclinical investigation into its therapeutic potential for conditions such as hypertension, inflammation, and ischemic injury.
