111In-HMFG1-F(ab')2 is a diagnostic radiopharmaceutical imaging agent consisting of F(ab')2 antibody fragments of the HMFG1 monoclonal antibody labeled with the radioisotope indium-111 (111In). The HMFG1 antibody is a murine IgG1 directed against the MUC1 antigen (polymorphic epithelial mucin), which is overexpressed on the surface of various epithelial-origin neoplasms, including breast, ovarian, and lung cancers. The F(ab')2 fragments are produced via pepsin digestion and conjugated with diethylenetriamine pentaacetic acid (DTPA) to facilitate labeling with 111In. This agent was primarily investigated in the late 1980s and early 1990s for immunoscintigraphy to localize primary and metastatic tumors. While it demonstrated successful tumor localization, clinical utility was limited by significant liver and renal uptake and the development of human anti-mouse antibodies (HAMA).
