131I-cG250-F(ab')2 is a radiolabeled monoclonal antibody fragment, specifically the F(ab')2 fragment of chimeric G250 monoclonal antibody, that is tagged with radioactive iodine-131. It is designed to target carbonic anhydrase IX (CA IX), a cell-surface antigen highly expressed in clear-cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC). The mechanism involves radioimmunotherapy, where the antibody fragment binds selectively to CA IX on tumor cells, delivering localized beta radiation from iodine-131 to induce tumor cell death. Preclinical and early clinical studies indicate that 131I-cG250-F(ab')2 clears more rapidly from the blood than the intact antibody, with lower absolute tissue uptake but similar tissue-to-blood ratios, and may be less effective for tumor visualization and accumulation than the intact IgG form. Primary development is for clear-cell renal cell carcinoma[1][3][4][5].
