131I-hVEGF siRNA + SilenceMag is a combination drug comprised of human Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor small interfering RNA (hVEGF siRNA) labeled with radioactive iodine-131 (^131I^) for targeted gene silencing, delivered using SilenceMag, a proprietary magnetic nanoparticle reagent. SilenceMag uses Magnetofection™ technology, which employs magnetic force to concentrate the siRNA delivery at specific tissue sites under the guidance of an external magnetic field (EMF). In preclinical models, this enables simultaneous anti-tumor effects via VEGF gene knockdown (inhibiting angiogenesis) and radioisotope therapy, while also facilitating diagnostic imaging through radiolabel tracking. This approach has shown antitumoral and angiostatic activities, especially for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), by enabling high local concentration of siRNA in tumors and real-time imaging/biodistribution assessment[6].
