1711(scFv)-SNAP-IR700 is a research-stage photoimmunotherapy (NIR-PIT) agent designed for the targeted treatment of EGFR-expressing malignancies. It consists of a human single-chain variable fragment (scFv), designated '1711' and derived from the monoclonal antibody panitumumab, fused to a SNAP-tag protein. This fusion protein is site-specifically conjugated to IR700 (IRDye 700DX), a near-infrared phthalocyanine photosensitizer, using the self-labeling properties of the SNAP-tag enzyme. The agent selectively binds to the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) on the surface of cancer cells. Upon irradiation with near-infrared light, the IR700 moiety is activated, inducing rapid cell membrane damage and immunogenic cell death. This compound has been investigated in preclinical models of melanoma and other EGFR-positive solid tumors as a potential strategy to overcome chemoresistance and reduce systemic side effects compared to traditional therapies.
