2'-Hydroxycinnamaldehyde (HCA) is a natural phenylpropanoid compound, mostly found in the bark of *Cinnamomum cassia* and in some other plants[9][1]. It has demonstrated anti-inflammatory and antitumor activities in various in vitro and in vivo models[9][7][10]. HCA exerts its primary effects by directly binding to and inhibiting the activation of the transcription factor STAT3 (signal transducer and activator of transcription 3), leading to reduced STAT3-driven gene transcription and inflammatory signaling[3][5][8][12]. In animal models, it has shown efficacy in alleviating colitis, psoriasiform skin lesions, myocardial ischemia/reperfusion injury, and cancer proliferation, with actions including modulation of tight junction proteins, suppression of pro-inflammatory cytokines, induction of apoptosis in cancer cells, disruption of mitochondrial function, generation of reactive oxygen species, and upregulation of cellular defense pathways (e.g., BAG3, Nrf2/HO-1)[3][5][7][9][10][12][13].
