2'-hydroxyflavanone is a naturally occurring flavanone, a type of flavonoid, with the chemical formula C15H12O3 and a molecular weight of 240.25 g/mol[1][3][5][6]. It exhibits various biological activities, including antiproliferative, anti-angiogenic, prodifferentiation, and anti-inflammatory properties. It has demonstrated the ability to inhibit cancer cell proliferation, induce apoptosis, reduce inflammation, and inhibit platelet aggregation[1][5]. In preclinical models, 2'-hydroxyflavanone has shown promising effects against various cancers and infectious diseases such as leishmaniasis, with studies reporting reduction in lesion size and parasite load in mice[4]. Mechanisms of action include inhibition of cancer cell growth and apoptosis induction, as well as inhibition of platelet function (via blocking aggregation induced by arachidonic acid and adenosine diphosphate).
