Overview

2-FPTRP is a **fluorine-18 labeled tryptophan analog** developed as a positron emission tomography (PET) radiotracer for tumor imaging. It is a synthetic amino acid derivative, specifically 2-(3-fluoropropyl)-DL-tryptophan, designed for efficient tumor imaging. The compound acts as a substrate for amino acid transporters, primarily entering cells through **large neutral amino acid transporters (LAT)**. In vitro and in vivo studies show that it accumulates in tumor tissue, providing high tumor/background ratios in small animal PET imaging, making it potentially useful for the noninvasive imaging of tumors, especially in oncology research and diagnostics[3].
