Drug intelligence / Profile preview
2-(cycloheptylmethyl)-1,1-dioxido-1-benzothiophen-6-yl sulfamate is a synthetic small molecule belonging to the class of sulfamate compounds. It has been investigated as a carbonic anhydrase inhibitor with potential therapeutic applications. The compound acts by inhibiting various isoforms of carbonic anhydrase enzymes (including CA I, II, III, IV, V(A), V(B), VI, VII, IX, XII, XIII and XIV), which are involved in regulating pH and ion balance in tissues. Carbonic anhydrase inhibitors have been explored for indications such as glaucoma and other conditions where modulation of acid-base homeostasis is beneficial[2][3][9].
