Overview

2-methyl-3,5,7,8-tetrahydro-4H-thiopyrano[4,3-d]pyrimidin-4-one is a synthetic small molecule belonging to the pyranopyrimidine class. It is primarily known as an experimental compound and has not been approved for clinical use. The compound acts as an inhibitor of poly [ADP-ribose] polymerase 1 (PARP1) and protein mono-ADP-ribosyltransferase PARP3 (PARP3), with reported binding affinities in the nanomolar to micromolar range. These enzymes are involved in DNA repair processes; thus PARP inhibitors are of interest for potential anticancer applications by exploiting synthetic lethality in tumor cells deficient in DNA repair pathways. There are no known approved indications or marketed products containing this molecule[1][6].
