Overview

The 2nd-generation CHIT1 inhibitor is a preclinical small-molecule drug candidate developed by Molecure S.A. (formerly OncoArendi Therapeutics). It is designed to selectively inhibit chitotriosidase-1 (CHIT1), an enzyme primarily expressed by activated macrophages that plays a significant role in the pathogenesis of various fibrotic and inflammatory conditions. Unlike the company's lead candidate OATD-01, which is a dual inhibitor of CHIT1 and AMCase, this second-generation program focuses on optimized potency and selectivity for CHIT1 to treat interstitial lung diseases (ILDs) and other fibrotic disorders. By blocking CHIT1 activity, the drug aims to reduce pro-fibrotic signaling and tissue remodeling associated with chronic lung inflammation.
