Drug intelligence / Profile preview
3'-Deazo-Thiamin Diphosphate is a synthetic analog of thiamine diphosphate (ThDP, also known as thiamine pyrophosphate), the active coenzyme form of vitamin B1. Structurally, it features a modified thiazolium ring in which the 3' nitrogen is replaced by carbon, resulting in a neutral triazole scaffold while retaining the essential diphosphate group[1][4]. This modification allows it to bind competitively to ThDP-dependent enzymes but alters its biological activity compared to natural ThDP. As such, 3'-Deazo-Thiamin Diphosphate acts as an inhibitor or inactive analog for ThDP-dependent enzymes and is primarily used as a biochemical tool in research settings to study enzyme mechanisms and coenzyme interactions[6][7]. It has no approved pharmaceutical or clinical use.
