**3,3'-diindolylmethane (DIM)** is a naturally occurring compound formed in the body during the digestion of indole-3-carbinol, which is found in cruciferous vegetables such as broccoli and cabbage. It has been studied for its potential antineoplastic (anticancer) properties and as a modulator of hormone metabolism. Preclinical studies suggest that DIM exhibits anti-inflammatory, antiproliferative, and chemopreventive effects. Mechanistically, it may act by modulating estrogen metabolism—promoting the formation of less potent estrogens—and by inhibiting androgen receptor signaling pathways. DIM also inhibits certain cytochrome P450 enzymes and aromatase activity. It has been investigated in clinical trials for conditions including prostate cancer, breast cancer prevention (especially hormone-sensitive cancers), cervical dysplasia, systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), and other hormone-related disorders[1][2][4][5].
