Drug intelligence / Profile preview
4'-hydroxy-3,5,6,7-tetramethoxyflavone is a methoxylated flavonoid isolated from the medicinal plant *Varthemia iphionoides*. It has demonstrated potent cytotoxic activity against metastatic prostate cancer cell lines, specifically PC3 and DU145, with IC50 values in the low micromolar range. The compound's mechanism of action involves the induction of cell-cycle arrest (G2/M phase in PC3 cells and S-phase in DU145 cells) and the promotion of apoptosis through the depolarization of the mitochondrial membrane. In silico ADMET profiling suggests favorable drug-likeness, positioning it as a promising lead scaffold for the development of novel prostate cancer therapeutics.
