Overview

4,7-Dioxosebacic acid is a small molecule dicarboxylic acid with the molecular formula C10H14O6 and a molecular weight of approximately 230.21 g/mol[1][2]. It is also known as 4,7-dioxodecanedioic acid. This compound is classified as an experimental drug and has been studied primarily for its biochemical interactions rather than clinical use. Its main known mechanism of action is inhibition of delta-aminolevulinic acid dehydratase (ALAD), an enzyme involved in the biosynthesis of tetrapyrroles such as heme[2]. By inhibiting ALAD, it may interfere with porphyrin and heme metabolism.
