Overview

This compound is a synthetic small molecule belonging to the n‑alkylindole class, characterized by an indole moiety substituted with benzyl, carbamoylmethyl, and methyl groups, and linked via an ether bond to butyric acid. It is not approved for clinical use in any country and is classified as experimental. The compound has been studied primarily as a research tool rather than a therapeutic agent. Its most notable biological activity is inhibition of membrane-associated phospholipase A2 (PLA2), with reported IC50 values in the low nanomolar range (152 nM). Phospholipase A2 enzymes are involved in the release of arachidonic acid from membrane phospholipids—a key step in inflammatory signaling pathways—making PLA2 inhibitors of interest for anti-inflammatory drug development. However, there are no known clinical trials or marketed products containing this molecule[1][2].
