Overview

4-(Aminosulfonyl)-N-[(3,4,5-trifluorophenyl)methyl]-benzamide is a synthetic small molecule compound with the molecular formula C14H11F3N2O3S and a molecular weight of approximately 344.31 g/mol[1][2][7]. It is classified as an experimental drug and has not been approved for any therapeutic use[2]. The compound acts as a potent inhibitor of human carbonic anhydrase II (CA2), binding with high affinity (Kd ≈ 3.9 nM)[2][10]. Structural studies have shown that it interacts specifically with the active site of CA2 through fluoroaromatic interactions[6], making it useful in biochemical research on enzyme inhibition. There are no known clinical indications or ongoing clinical trials for this molecule.
