Overview

A synthetic small molecule compound with the chemical formula C16H13BrN6O3S and a molecular weight of approximately 449.3 g/mol. It is also known as STX‑681 and has been described in the literature as a dual aromatase-sulfatase inhibitor (DASI). This means it is designed to inhibit both aromatase (CYP19A1), an enzyme responsible for estrogen biosynthesis from androgens, and steroid sulfatase (STS), which hydrolyzes steroid sulfates into active estrogens. Such dual inhibition may be relevant for hormone-dependent cancers such as breast cancer by reducing estrogen levels through two complementary pathways[2][3]. The compound has also been referenced in protein structure databases but does not appear to have reached clinical development or commercialization.
