Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This compound is a synthetic small molecule belonging to the benzenesulfonamide class. It has been studied as an experimental inhibitor of focal adhesion kinase (FAK), a non-receptor tyrosine kinase involved in cellular adhesion and signal transduction. Structural studies have shown that it binds selectively to the catalytic domain of FAK and exhibits kinetic selectivity over proline-rich tyrosine kinase 2 (PYK2), likely due to its ability to induce helical structure at the DFG motif of FAK but not PYK2. The compound is not approved for clinical use and remains an experimental tool for biochemical and structural research on kinase inhibition[7][8].
