Drug intelligence / Profile preview
46& is a precision-formulated oral probiotic supplement developed by Cambiotics for the detoxification and reduction of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) body burden. The product consists of two natural, non-GMO bacterial strains, 46-XY1 (from the Streptococcus family) and 46-SL1 (from the Bacteroides family), which are designed to bioaccumulate long-chain PFAS molecules—specifically PFOS, PFNA, PFDA, and PFOA—within the gastrointestinal tract. By sequestering these "forever chemicals," the therapy enhances their fecal excretion, thereby preventing systemic absorption and reducing the overall body burden. Developed in collaboration with the MRC Toxicology Unit at the University of Cambridge, 46& is currently in preclinical development with plans for clinical trials in healthy individuals with elevated PFAS levels.
