Overview

**5,7-Dimethoxyflavone** is a naturally occurring flavone (polyphenolic compound) found in plants such as *Kaempferia parviflora* (black ginger) and *Boesenbergia rotunda*. Chemically, it is a dimethyl ether derivative of chrysin, classified among 7-O-methylated flavonoids. It is described as a plant secondary metabolite and has been detected in certain herbal teas. It has shown a range of biological activities in vitro and in animal models, including **anti-inflammatory, anti-obesity, antineoplastic (anticancer), antifungal**, and inhibitory activity against certain cytochrome P450 enzymes (notably CYP3A subtypes) and the Breast Cancer Resistance Protein (BCRP/ABCG2)[6][7][2][3][5]. These activities have been primarily observed in experimental models.
