Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This drug is a specific messenger RNA (mRNA) vaccine candidate developed by the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) for the prevention of COVID-19. The vaccine consists of a 5'-capped mRNA sequence that encodes the spike (S) protein of the SARS-CoV-2 LP.8.1 variant. To ensure the protein remains in its most immunogenic pre-fusion state, the sequence incorporates two stabilizing proline mutations at positions 981 and 982 (K981P and V982P). This technology is designed to trigger a robust immune response by instructing host cells to synthesize the viral antigen, which then primes the immune system to recognize and neutralize the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
