Overview

5-(2-methylpiperazine-1-sulfonyl)isoquinoline is a synthetic small molecule belonging to the class of N-sulfonylpiperazines and isoquinolines. It is best known as a potent and selective inhibitor of protein kinase C (PKC), with additional inhibitory activity against other serine/threonine kinases. The compound has been widely used in biochemical research to study PKC-mediated signaling pathways and cellular processes such as superoxide release from human neutrophils. Its mechanism involves competitive inhibition at the ATP-binding site of PKC enzymes. While it has significant value as a pharmacological tool in laboratory settings, there is no evidence that it has been developed or approved for clinical use in humans[6][8][10].
