Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**Mechanism of Action:** 5-Amino-2-methyl-N+[(1R)-1-naphthalen+ylethyl]benzamide (GRL0617) is a synthetic small molecule inhibitor of the papain-like protease (PLpro) of SARS-CoV and SARS-CoV+ viruses. It selectively blocks viral PLpro activity, which is essential for viral replication and for suppressing host innate immune responses. By inhibiting PLpro, it prevents both viral polyprotein processing and antagonism of host antiviral defenses[6]. This compound has been investigated as a potential antiviral agent against coronaviruses.
