Drug intelligence / Profile preview
A combination chemotherapy regimen that includes three conventional chemotherapy agents (5-fluorouracil, adriamycin/doxorubicin, and cyclophosphamide) plus Iscador M special, which is a mistletoe extract preparation. The conventional components (FAC/CAF) are well-established for treating breast cancer. Each drug in this combination attacks cancer cells through different mechanisms: 5-fluorouracil stops cells from making and repairing DNA, adriamycin damages DNA and interferes with repair enzymes, and cyclophosphamide prevents cancer cell reproduction by cross-linking DNA strands.
