Overview

The combination of 5-fluorouracil, epidoxorubicin, cyclophosphamide (FEC), and lonidamine is an investigational chemotherapy regimen primarily studied for breast cancer treatment. FEC is a well-established conventional cytotoxic chemotherapy regimen. 5-fluorouracil, epidoxorubicin, and cyclophosphamide are typically administered intravenously on day 1 of a 21-day cycle, with dosages for fluorouracil and cyclophosphamide ranging from 500-600 mg/m² and epidoxorubicin from 50-90 mg/m². Lonidamine is a metabolic inhibitor that targets cancer cell energy metabolism, and its addition to FEC is part of an investigational approach to potentially enhance the efficacy of the chemotherapy by targeting altered metabolic pathways in cancer cells.
