This is a combination therapy consisting of three chemotherapeutic agents (5-fluorouracil, epirubicin, and cyclophosphamide) known as the FEC regimen, supplemented with molecular iodine (I2). Each component has a distinct mechanism of action:\n\n- 5-fluorouracil (5-FU): An antimetabolite that stops cells from making and repairing DNA, causing cell death during division.\n- Epirubicin: An anthracycline that stops cancer cells from making DNA and interferes with DNA repair enzymes.\n- Cyclophosphamide: An alkylating agent that prevents cancer cells from reproducing.\n- Molecular iodine (I2): An oral supplement that has shown potential to attenuate chemotherapy side effects, prevent tumor chemoresistance, and enhance immune response against tumors.\n\nClinical studies have shown that adding molecular iodine to the FEC regimen may significantly improve response rates and five-year disease-free survival compared to FEC alone.
