Overview

This is a combination chemotherapy regimen consisting of three cytotoxic agents (5-fluorouracil, cyclophosphamide, and epirubicin) with GM-CSF (granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor) as supportive therapy. The regimen is primarily used in breast cancer treatment, particularly for high-risk patients with node-positive disease. GM-CSF is added to reduce neutropenia and other hematological toxicities, allowing for dose-dense or dose-intensive administration of the chemotherapeutic agents. Clinical trials have investigated various dosing schedules, including accelerated (every 2 weeks) versus standard (every 3 weeks) administration.
