Overview
This is a combination therapy that includes three conventional chemotherapeutic agents (5-fluorouracil, cyclophosphamide, and epirubicin) along with Lentinula edodes mycelia extract (AHCC®). The chemotherapy components are commonly used in cancer treatment regimens like CEF (cyclophosphamide, epirubicin, 5-fluorouracil) for breast cancer and other malignancies. The addition of Lentinula edodes mycelia extract appears to be investigational, with research suggesting it may enhance the therapeutic effects of chemotherapy while potentially reducing adverse effects. AHCC® has been shown to have immunomodulatory properties, potentially enhancing T cell function and affecting the gut microbiome, which may contribute to improved anti-tumor effects when combined with conventional chemotherapy.
