Drug intelligence / Profile preview
A research-grade topical bleaching gel developed by the University of Chile for treating tooth discoloration. It contains a low concentration (6%) of hydrogen peroxide combined with nitrogen-doped titanium dioxide (N-TiO₂) nanoparticles. The N-TiO₂ acts as a photocatalyst, allowing the gel to be activated by visible light (blue LED or infrared laser) rather than UV light. This mechanism aims to maintain bleaching efficacy while reducing common side effects like tooth sensitivity and gingival irritation associated with higher peroxide concentrations (e.g., 35%).
