As a precursor to cabazitaxel, it is essential for the production of therapies targeting advanced, hormone-refractory prostate cancer. The molecule's structure includes specific methoxy groups at the 7 and 10 positions, which are characteristic of the cabazitaxel scaffold, enabling the final drug to bypass certain resistance mechanisms associated with earlier taxanes like docetaxel.
