7-benzyl-1,3-dimethyl-8-piperazin-1-yl-3,7-dihydro-purine-2,6-dione

7-benzyl‑1,3‑dimethyl‑8‑piperazin‑1‑yl‑3,7‑dihydro‑purine‑2,6‑dione (BDPX) is a synthetic small molecule belonging to the oxopurines and piperazines chemical classes. It features a purine nucleus with benzyl and dimethyl substitutions as well as a piperazine ring. The compound has been studied primarily as an experimental inhibitor of dipeptidyl peptidase IV (DPP-IV or CD26), an enzyme involved in glucose metabolism and immune regulation. Structural studies have shown that BDPX binds to the active site of DPP-IV[4][6]. There are no known approved therapeutic indications or marketed products containing this compound.
