Drug intelligence / Profile preview
8-pCPT-2'-O-Me-cAMP-AM (also known as 007-AM) is a cell-permeable, selective small molecule activator of the exchange protein directly activated by cyclic AMP (Epac). It is the acetoxymethyl (AM) ester prodrug of 8-pCPT-2'-O-Me-cAMP. Once inside cells, intracellular esterases cleave the AM ester to release the active Epac agonist. 8-pCPT-2'-O-Me-cAMP-AM is highly selective for Epac (primarily Epac1) over protein kinase A (PKA). It is widely utilized as a research reagent to study Epac-mediated signaling pathways, including endothelial junction tightening, insulin secretion in pancreatic beta-cells, and renal protection against ischemia-reperfusion injury. It is not clinically developed or approved for therapeutic use in humans.
