99mTc + interleukin-2 is a **radiopharmaceutical imaging agent** created by labeling human recombinant interleukin-2 (IL-2) with technetium-99m (99mTc), a gamma-emitting radioisotope. This compound is used in nuclear medicine for scintigraphic imaging of tissues with infiltration of **IL-2 receptor-positive (CD25+) lymphocytes**. The primary mechanism relies on the binding of IL-2 to its high-affinity receptor on the surface of activated T-lymphocytes, allowing in vivo visualization and quantification of immune cell infiltration in diseases such as cutaneous melanoma. This noninvasive technique provides prognostic information and may guide patient selection for IL-2-based immunotherapy by identifying tumor tissue with active immune (T-cell) infiltration[1].
