Drug intelligence / Profile preview
A+D (also marketed as A+D Son) is a combination of Vitamin A and Vitamin D developed by Avison Pharmaceuticals. It is available as oral drops and topical ointment/cream. Vitamin A (retinol) is essential for maintaining healthy vision, immune function, and cellular differentiation, acting as an agonist on retinoic acid receptors (RAR) and retinoid X receptors (RXR). Vitamin D (cholecalciferol) is crucial for calcium absorption, bone mineralization, and immune regulation, acting as an agonist on the vitamin D receptor (VDR). The combination is primarily used as a dietary supplement to prevent or treat vitamin A and D deficiencies, support bone and eye health, and as a topical skin protectant to prevent and treat diaper rash and minor skin irritations.
