Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Açaí + juçara is a combination of two berries from palm trees native to South America. Both are rich in antioxidants, particularly anthocyanins, and have been studied for their potential health benefits. Açaí (Euterpe oleracea Mart.) is a round, dark purple fruit from the açaí palm tree native to tropical Central and South America, particularly the Brazilian Amazon region. Juçara (Euterpe edulis Mart.) is a similar berry from a different species of palm tree that grows in the Atlantic rainforest. While açaí has gained widespread popularity, juçara is emerging as a potential "new açaí" with similar properties but reportedly higher antioxidant content, containing four times as many antioxidants as açaí and more potassium and iron. Juçara has a similar taste to açaí but with a fruitier flavor compared to açaí's slightly earthier taste. Both berries are rich in anthocyanins, proanthocyanidins, fatty acids, potassium, and iron.
