Drug intelligence / Profile preview
AAV8-OVA-Pf(s25-CSP) is a preclinical viral-vectored malaria vaccine candidate developed by Kanazawa University in collaboration with Nagasaki University, Kyoto University, and Jichi Medical University. It utilizes an adeno-associated virus serotype 8 (AAV8) vector, which is liver-tropic, to deliver a gene cassette encoding a fusion antigen of the Plasmodium falciparum circumsporozoite protein (PfCSP) and the ookinete protein Pfs25, along with an ovalbumin (OVA) CD8+ T-cell epitope (SIINFEKL). Designed as a booster vaccine following priming with a highly attenuated vaccinia virus vector (m8Δ-OVA-Pf(s25-CSP)), AAV8-OVA-Pf(s25-CSP) is intended to induce robust liver-resident memory T cells (TRM) and elicit sterile protection against malaria sporozoite infection.
