Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Abciximab + reteplase is a combination therapy used for reperfusion in patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI). This regimen combines full-dose abciximab (a glycoprotein IIb/IIIa inhibitor) with reduced-dose reteplase (a thrombolytic agent). The combination has shown improved reperfusion rates and beneficial effects on inflammatory myocardial response compared to standard thrombolytic therapy alone, though it has not demonstrated significant reduction in 30-day mortality. It is associated with fewer complications of acute MI including reduced rates of reinfarction and recurrent ischemia.
