Overview

ABT-510 + carboplatin + paclitaxel is a combination therapy under investigation for the treatment of certain cancers. ABT-510 is a synthetic peptide analog of thrombospondin-1 that acts as an endogenous inhibitor of angiogenesis by mimicking its antiangiogenic properties, particularly through inhibition of VEGF-mediated endothelial cell functions. It has been studied as both monotherapy and in combination with cytotoxic chemotherapy agents such as carboplatin (a platinum-based DNA crosslinker that causes apoptosis in rapidly dividing cells) and paclitaxel (a microtubule-stabilizing agent that disrupts mitosis). The rationale behind this combination is to target tumor angiogenesis (via ABT-510) alongside cytotoxic mechanisms (via carboplatin and paclitaxel) to improve therapeutic outcomes in cancers like melanoma, ovarian cancer, and possibly others.
